How "Free Insulation Grant" works ?
ECO4 – One of the biggest Government Grants UK
The Energy Company Obligation is the government’s flagship when it comes to energy efficiency schemes to fund home improvement measures that will help households boost their home’s energy efficiency and reduce their household bills. It was launched in 2013, and funded by the main energy suppliers, with the aim of reducing carbon emissions across the UK to reduce our impact on climate change and ensure we reach the legally binding target of hitting net-zero target emissions by the year 2050.
Empowering Low-Income Households for Greater Energy Efficiency
Harness the Power of Tomorrow, Today
ECO is now in its fourth and final rendition and will run until 2026. The main focus of ECO4 is on low-income households with homes that are fuel-poor and energy inefficient to ensure they get the measures they need to better retain heat in their properties and lower their energy bills yearly.
The ECO Scheme has been complemented by the Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) which is intended to run from Summer 2023 until March 2026, and extends support even further to households who could receive new insulation measures for their home, but who were not previously eligible for support under existing government-backed schemes.
One of the main aims of GBIS is to help as many households as possible, so in many cases the insulation measures funded will be loft insulation or cavity wall insulation (as this is usually the cheapest option). However, other types of insulation measures could be paid for with GBIS funding including solid wall insulation, solid floor insulation, underfloor insulation, and flat roof insulation. Secondary heating controls may also be provided by GBIS funding.

Why insulate your home?
According to the Energy Saving Trust, heating accounts for around 60% of the annual cost of all UK energy bills. So, having sufficient thermal insulation really can save you a large amount each year! Instead of heating the atmosphere, you can use less energy and save money.
FREE house insulation provided by GBIS funding can also help to reduce the carbon footprint of your home. Less energy consumption will mean that your bills are also less. With energy bills becoming higher than ever, it is important your home is being kept warm at the lowest possible cost.
Whether it’s loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, underfloor insulation or room in roof insulation, proper insulation and heating controls can make a significant difference.
The Great British Insulation Scheme is particularly designed to help low-income households and those who need it most. If you’re on a low income, you may qualify for this government-backed funding to insulate your home at no cost!
